Getting started

Make a garden

From your gardens, give it a name and press Create. You get a 12 × 9 m rectangular plot to start from.

Get the plot right first

If your garden really is a rectangle, type its width and depth into the plot size fields in the side panel. It grows from the top-left corner, so nothing you have already placed moves.

If it is not, use Select and drag the corner handles, or double-click an edge to add a corner. To start the outline again from scratch, use Redraw plot — that replaces the whole outline, so reach for Select if you only want to nudge it.

Put something in it

Search the catalogue on the left and click what you want. That is all you need to do — picking a plant starts placing it, and picking a bed or a path starts drawing one. There is no separate drawing tool to choose.

Escape gets you out: once to abandon what you are drawing, again to leave the tool.

Moving around

Scroll to zoom. Drag with the right mouse button to pan — the middle button and Alt-drag do the same thing. On a phone or tablet, one finger pans and two pinch.

Nothing is lost

Your work saves itself a couple of seconds after you stop. Ctrl+Z undoes, and a checkpoint is a named snapshot you can come back to. Restoring one is safe: it takes a snapshot of where you are first, so you can undo the restore too.
